Here are some brief profiles of bands that you really should check out...
I figured I ought to let u know that I don't just listen to InMe, I do have some sort of vague CD collection that extends beyond 'Overgrown Eden'. Anyway, I listen to quite a few bigger bands - Foo Fighters, QOTSA, Muse, Greenday, Silverchair, Coldplay, Bon Jovi, Van Halen, Audioslave... - but I haven't put about them on here because I'm assuming you know about them already. So this page is dedicated to some smaller bands, who with a little support are destined to go far, and I recommend u listen out for some of their music. Other honourable mentions (theres just not room for everyone on here) go to Goo Goo Dolls, Kings of Leon, Easyworld, TCTC, Biffy.... that's all I can think of right now. So anyway, here goes...

INSTRUCTION
I saw them backing Biffy Clyro at the Mean Fiddler on 14th June 2003... they were just awesome! They have a few catchy songs, n the bassist is just phwoar! n ive gotta give them credit for standing outside the venue afterwards n flogging their own CDs... the Lucky 7 crew (who, incidently, were shite) just sat around inside n waited for ppl to get their autographs, whereas Instruction were out there working! so.... yeah |

VEGA 4
I saw them supporting Serafin at Dingwalls... their stuff is good live, n tbh the lead singer Johnny is gorgeous! i met him, n he was lovely, n im in love! hehe irish accents ALWAYS get me! oh yeah, their songs arent that bad either... kinda mellowy relaxy songs. Unfortunatly, altho the album 'Satellites' has been out since the beginning of June, I can't find it in any shops, so had to order online. or alternatively u could always d/l some of it from KaZaa as I did... Shoot Up Hill is my personal favourite.

KINESIS
Saw em live the other week... they built up a really good atmosphere... n Forever Reeling just sold it for me. Great band. |

GHOST OF THE ROBOT
Tbh I don't really know anything about them as yet... apart from theyre kinda grungey... n James Marsters is the lead singer/guitarist n he has a gorge sultry voice. So... yeah. I haven't gotten around to getting any of their stuff over the internet yet, but as soon as next month rolls around (because a new month brings fresh money!) i'll most likely poke around n see what I can find.

JET
Haven't seen em live, but the next time theyre around London I'll def be up for it... have heard a couple of their songs on radio (n on the free CD w/Xfm) n buy the new album 'Get Born' as an impulse buy. Kinda. Altho not really impulse as I'm planning to buy it... ah, you know what I mean. Anyway, the songs are v catchy... can't explain why... they just are! |
|
CKY
They play Bam's skating song which is awesome (its called '96 Quite Bitter Beings' if u want it) n their songs have a load of catchy guitar riffs in them. altho theyre american so there's little chance of me seeing them in concert for a while. ah well! Haven't actually bought any of their stuff, but thats mostly coz i've d/l it all... mwah ha ha ha!

LOW COUNTRY BOIL
ok, this band doesn't really fit in with the others on this page in that it's a bluegrass/country band... so from a slightly different genre... ahem. anyway, i saw these guys out in HiltonHead (thats where they do all their gigs) n theyre all v talented musicians, n their songs are irratatingly catchy - u can d/l a couple off their website (see Fave Sites). Theyre all lovely boys too... Jev n Rich especially... and, just so u dont think theyre geeks or anything, Jev is bassist in another band that do 80s rock covers called Silicone Sisters who are just as good. So, if u wanna hear a new type of music, then try some LCB! |
